Are you semi-constantly thinking of ways to improve your blog (and blog design) like me?
I mean I switched to WP in October 2013, changed my design as a result, and now I’m already debuting a new design as a way to ring in the new year. Do you like it??
MINIMALISM: YAY OR NAY?
As you can tell, it’s not only more minimalist than my old design (if you can remember or have been around for that long), but it’s also what’s known as responsive, meaning it adapts well to all kinds of screen sizes and devices. (Which I think it’s friggin’ FANTASTIC.) However, I did keep the same color scheme from before because, well, I ain’t in the mood for looking at other color combos when I’m already in love with the one I got.
(Btw do you like minimalism in terms of design? I don’t like it when it comes to home décor but as far as web design goes, it’s actually growing on me.)
I think once you find your “Forever” design, it’s healthy (sanity-wise) to stick with it, right? I mean you wouldn’t switch husbands as soon as you’re tired of your current one, huh? (At least I wouldn’t hope so.) Instead we gotta make the best with what we have and not want to impulsively go around and changing it out of the blue.
If we never settle, then we’re always looking for something. (And isn’t that exhausting?)
Doesn’t that apply to life in general? Well, maybe not if you’re Matt Rolloff (from Little People, Big World. I loved that show when we had cable–now I just follow it on Facebook :)), whose farm has a bijillion acres, and who therefore enjoys thinking of new things to add every day/month.
So unless you have unlimited money/time/space to dedicate to an endless search for love/blog designs/home designs/etc, I think it’s pretty reasonable to SETTLE.
And holy cow, I’ve totally deviated from my original topic so watch me bring it back full circle: I’m sure I finally found my Forever (hope that lasts for a long time) design! (*Applause from you.* [Thank you, thank you, you’re far too kind.]) There may be a few improvements I make later on (because let’s face it; not even relationships should stay stagnant) but I sure am damn happy with it and I think I may even have a crush on it.
I REALLY HOPE YOU ENJOY IT IN GENERAL
Sure it’s pretty, but I also went through great lengths to make it functional to new and current fans alike. How? Well for one, I spent at least five hours categorizing almost 500 posts. (Argh!) See those sections at the top underneath my header menu? (They read “Style,” “Life,” “Entertainment,” and so on…) I was inspired by sites that make it easy for y’all to navigate them and set them up for your reading pleasure.
I like making pretty things that work, after all!
What changes are YOU planning on making for the new year (if any)?
PS- I only design stuff I’d like for myself and/or that I’d actually develop crushes on (otherwise I’d be bored out of my mind and I don’t want that) SO if YOU want to revamp your blog for the new year, contact me and/or check me out at AnnieversalStudios.com. XO and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
